In this article we are going to discuss the simple truth behind ALL lose weight diet plans. Remember, some diets are NOT designed to facilitate weight loss, but rather as a nutritional or lifestyle oriented program for personal change. Interestingly, I recently read a fair amount of literature about a "juice fasting" program, and surprisingly...MOST of the adherents of this program were NOT looking to lose weight, but to cultivate better "natural" health and a Spiritual practice they may have felt lacking from their lives.
But to lose weight, the barometer is ACTUALLY set pretty straightforward and very simply: You need to EXPEND more energy, as measured in caloric units, than that which you consume. There is literally nothing more to it. When this "inequity" hits 3500 calories, you have lost one pound..:-) Now, there may be certain physical issues, health matters or otherwise that play a part in our individual quest for weight loss, but this is the equation you NEED to follow when choosing, and furthering your dieting endeavors.
My recommendation? Pick a diet you KNOW you are going to be able to complete. There is NOTHING worse (or more common) than planning to start some exotic diet, and then finding 3 days in you simply can't bear to continue. Eating cabbage soup for example...was NOT for me EVEN for half a day...let alone for a week or more..:-) Pick programs that have DOCUMENTED success stories, scientifically studied nutritional quotients and hopefully...lots of slim and SMILING people who are actually ON it..:-)
